It's Time To Bloom - Easel Card

Yeah!  Here comes Spring and "It's Time to Bloom!"

I love how people come up with mechanical ideas for cards and 3-D items.  This is an "easel" card and I love the movement.  SPRING is the theme for this weeks Paper Pal Arts Challenge #32 and our Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper™ has Spring printed all over it!

 Oh, it may look like a regular card, coming out of the envelope, but it springs to life, as it's opened up.  This is another "Big Shot" die cutting card.  Both the butterflies and the embossed "Hi" are created using the Big Shot die cutting machine.

The bright colors of the Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper™ is very exciting and appropriately bright and cheerful to welcome Spring.

Mukibug Tips:

• Let the colors in your Designer Series Paper dictate the colors of your project.  I just LOVE how all Stampin' Up! colors match across the board through all of our accessories/products.
• The embosslits dies are the BEST.  They die cut and emboss in one pass through the Big Shot.
• The Polka Dot texture I added to the die cut Beautiful Butterflies was just enough to give them some life.
• I only adhered the right side of the butterfly down.  The left side remains free to hold the card in an easel position.
• The Rhinestone Brad on the butterfly was just to add some bling!  Just because.  :D

SWEET TREATS ALWAYS PPA26

Well it's always FUN to PLAY@PPA!, especially when you are the ARTIST PICK!  Yeah for ME; I was chosen by the artist for last weeks entry.  Every Thursday a new challenge is posted and I love to participate in their challenges.  This week is no exception and the theme is "Anything But A Card", so here it is . . . a MINI MILK CARTON filled with yummy jelly beans.

This is our new Stampin' Up! Bigz L Die MINI MILK CARTON™ and it is adorable (how did I ever create with out our Stampin' Up! Big Shot by Sizzix™).  The top of the carton really opens, just like a milk carton, so you can pour out the yummy contents.  The die comes with very clear instructions for assembly.  I left the bottom of the carton open until the end so I could add my sweet treats and then seal it up.  I punched a hole in the tip to add the ribbon and string for my little tags.
  I used the SCALLOP CIRCLE PUNCH™, 1-3/8" & 1-1/4" CIRCLE PUNCHES™ and the new MEDIUM JEWELRY TAG PUNCH™ to create the hanging tags.  I just love our SENDING LOVE SPECIALTY DESIGNER SERIES PAPER™ which I wrapped around the body of the carton.  I used the EYELET BORDER PUNCH™ to add a little lacy softness on the bottom of the carton.  Oh, one more little something on the other side, too.

Friend With All My Heart PPA25

 

My friends are so important in my life.  I have a name for those friends I can call on at any time.  I call them my RICKSHAW team!  Every now and then I need them to carry me and on other occasions I will carry them.  But we are all women on the go and understand the need to keep moving forward even when one of the team is down.  FRIENDSHIP cards are important because they expresses love and appreciation for your relationship.  This weeks challenge at Paper Pal Arts is "Life is Like A Box of Chocolates" and this image was the inspiration for the challenge this week.

With all the new products from our OCCASIONS MINI CATALOG, it didn't take me long to pull this card together.  I began with a piece of Sending Love Designer Series Paper™ and added some fun trim using two of the NEW punches.  The Pinking Hearts Border Punch™ is available in the mini; however, the Scallop Trim Border Punch™ is in the SALE-A-BRATION (SAB) catalog and can only be EARNED FOR FREE!  Darn, huh?  No, really it's GREAT because the SAB products are ALL FREE with any $50 purchase, you get to choose which one you want!  It's our BIGGEST promotion of the year and it will only last until the end of March!  There's no limit on the number of FREE items you can receive, it's just one for every $50 you spend.

I stamped the inside of the card and the envelope flap.  I used a stamping-off technique to get the soft colors.  HINT: Stampin-Off is when you ink up your stamp and stamp it once, to remove some ink, and then stamp it again a second time.  The second stamp is softer.  Below are all the materials used to create this card.

Thankful Thoughts Chocolate PPA13

My feeling is, you can never go wrong saying "thank you" with chocolate!  So here's my post for the PPA13 Challenge, "Anything But A Card!"

I took two die cuts of the SU! SCALLOP ENVELOPE Die in Kraft cardstock, trim 1" off the bottom flap (it measures 1-9/16" and you only want 9/16" remaining) and attached the sides and bottoms to create this little "Thank You" gift.  The Hershey's Treasures chocolates are wrapped with stamped standard mailing labels.  The sentiment on the front was also stamped on a mailing label and then punched out with the SMALL OVAL PUNCH.  The ribbon ends are actually stuck under the oval sentiment label.  Yes, you will need to break the seal to get to the chocolate or you could just cut the ribbon at the handle.  The belly band is created using a 1-1/4" X 8-1/2" strip of Bella Bleu Designer Series Paper.  This little gift envelope/box will hold four pieces of chocolate.

This little envelope box has soooo many uses, but isn't is just the SWEETEST way to say Thank You to someone!

This is a PREMIUM CREASE PAD and it's used with dies that have "score lines" along with the "die cut" lines.  You use this pad on the top of the layers as you set-up to make a run through the Big Shot.  This CREASE PAD will replace the top clear CUTTING PAD.  You will still get your "die cuts" but it will make much better "creases/scores".  It basically prevents the crease lines from cutting all the way through your paper.

Yeah, it's worth the purchase and I do recommend it.

Blessed Season PPA12

I know it's a little early for Christmas, or is it?  This is my version for the Paper Pal Arts Sketch Challenge.

It's just what came to me and I love it!  The card did not photograph as well as I had hoped.  Everything was done on GLOSSY WHITE card stock with the exception of the leaves.  The white berries were punch out of Glossy White card stock with a 1/4" Circle Punch.  The Ruby Red dot embossed panels were created by running a BRAYER over the Ruby Red Classic Ink Pad and then rolling it repeatedly over Glossy White card stock.  It's so easy to do and gives you COLORED Glossy card stock in any color!  Once the panels were dry, I ran them through the BIG SHOT using the SMALL DOTS TEXTURZ IMPRESSIONS PLATES.  The sentiment was stamped with VERSAMARK and then embossed in GOLD EMBOSSING POWDER and heated with a HEATING TOOL.

 
The strip of 1/4" OLD OLIVE GROSGRAIN RIBBON was adhered right to the card with SNAIL adhesive.  The bow was created and added later, on top of the wreath, using a GLUE DOT.  Snail adhesive was used behind the leaves and TOMBOW Mulitpurpose Adhesive was used for the berries.

The Glossy White card stock, which the sentiment is embossed on, was punched on the ends with the CURLY LABEL PUNCH.

NOTE: Hold the punch upside down and slip the strip of card stock down in through the center of the punch and then out one side.

B O O Box Tower (PPA11)

This was a fun project to design.  I love that "stacked block" look that I see everywhere  during the holiday season.  I'm so excited because this is my first entry in the PALS PAPER ARTS challenge.  This is  challenge #11 using the following three colors.

Note: This would be really cute with the boxes made from our fun Designer Series Paper CAST A SPELL (115677).

I didn't have any of that fun paper so I created some of my own.  I took 8-1/2 X 11" CARD STOCK in OLD OLIVE (100702), PERFECT PLUM (101889), PUMPKIN PIE (195117) and rolled the BAROQUE BORDER WHEEL (109675) all over all each piece.  I used a STAMPIN' AROUND HANDLE (102971)  with a BLACK STANDARD CARTRIDGE (104571).  It was quick and easy rolling the pieces of card stock and having them spooky looking in no time.

The box measures 2-5/8" X 2-5/8" when finished. 

Mister Ghost sitting on top there is actually two ghosts stuck together with a little Pumpkin Pie kick stand in the middle.  Look closely at the bottom of the ghost and you'll see it.  I used the little 5/8" edge I trimmed off the side of the 8-1/2" X 11" card stock before doing my scoring.

Notice the little SWEET TREAT CUPS (116802) used to connect the boxes together.  I poked a hole in each cup and attached them together with a small brad.  The pre-adhesive lips on the cups made it easy to stick them to the boxes.  I didn't poke the holes evenly in the center of the cups so the boxes would have an off balance look.  I used the MAT PACK (105826) and a PAPER-PIERCING TOOL (116631) to punch through the cups.

I added my spooky little friends to the sides of each box by making a slit with my HOBBY BLADE (102449) and then gently pushed my little bats and ghosts into the slits.

The alphabet letters were die cut, out of BASIC BLACK CARD STOCK (102851) using my BIG SHOT (113439) and the SERIF ESSENTIALS BIGZ DIE (113464).  I cut two sets of each letter.  On the top set of letters I covered them with SNAIL ADHESIVE (104332) and then pressed them face down in a bath of DAZZLING DIAMONDS (102023).  It adds a nice twinkling effect to the letters.  I backed each dazzling letter with it's plain black counterpart and then attached them to the box with DIMENSIONALS (104430).

HOW TO MAKE THAT BOX

The measurements for scoring each 8-1/5 X 11" card stock are included in this PDF file showing the score & cut pattern. Hopefully the following pictures will help you to understand how to create your box.

Once you score your card stock, you need to cut off the little ends AND you need to cut the vertical score lines to the center score lines going horizontally.  See the pic below.

 

The adhesive is on the little flap after it's been bent over.
 

Now I just fold the box in half and stick the other end right on top of the little adhesive strip.
 

See, there it is right inside the box.  You want that little flap on the INSIDE of the box so the outside looks nice and neat and complete.  : )

I was in the mood for a challenge today and came upon the SCS Technique Challenge #214 for today, “The Never Ending Card”.  Wow, what a fun card to make.  I just love all the movement, flaps and dimensions.  I actually had to watch a video several times to really get the hang of the making of this card.  Now that I’ve got it figured out, I’ll be making more and having some fun classes with this one.
