This is our wonderful Simply Adorned™ 1" Square Charm I jazzed up a little bit!   Our EXCLUSIVE Stampin' Up! Simply Adorned™ Jewelry is fabulous!  I love how the charms pop all the way open, to allow for easy access.  The glass on the front is beveled to allow for dimensional designs.  The coolest thing about this 1" Charm, it has glass on the front and back (only the front glass is beveled).  Can you believe how much I was able to fit inside this charm!

OK, so I didn't stop with the Charm!  I felt like the 24" Chain needed some action.  I got the idea from our Stampin' Up! Co-founder and CEO, Shelli Gardner, at Leadership in Phoenix. Here's the one Shelli made for her sister, Vonna, as a birthday gift.

Clover Wishes Card

Yes, it happens more often than you probably realize.  I've got to be honest with you all.  I do not like this card.  I had this idea in my head and then it somehow evolved into this . . .

This card is for the Paper Pals Arts Color Challenge #33 (Garden Green™, Certainly Celery™ and Kraft). 

There were other ways I would rather have worked out this card- but I just ran out of time.  So here I am flappin' out in the wind and letting it all hang out.

MUKIBUG TIPS

• "Whenever in doubt, Less is Best" is what my mother taught me.  That is clearly a rule that was broken here.  I just kept going thinking it would get better . . .
• The four hearts, of the flower, that create the 4-leaf clover, were punched out using our new Small Heart Punch™, shown in our current Occasions Mini Catalog.
• The little flower, on top of the clover petals, is one of the small flowers from the Boho Blossoms Punch™.  Isn't it cute how it mimics the shape of the 4-leaf clover!
• To correctly and evenly space the flowers on the card front, I punched out eight 1-1/4" circles and used them for spacing.  Once all were aligned, I used the Paper Piercing Tool™ and punched a little hole in the center of each circle and into the piece of Certainly Celery™ card front.  I then placed a Dimensional™ adhesive over each little pierced hole.  For added adhesion, I added a Glue Dot™ to the top of each Dimensional to have sure adhesion of the petals.
• A Stamp-A-Magig™ was used to rubber stamp the sentiment on the right side of the card.  View my VIDEO to learn how to use a Stamp-A-Magig™ and more.
• I crumpled up the "heart" petals and the Boho Blossoms to make them have a little more texture.
• The Vintage Brad™ goes through the flowers, Glue Dot, Dimensional and Certainly Celery™ card front.
• The Vintage Brads on either side of the sentiment are adhered on the Garden Green™ cardstock  with a Glue Dot.  I cut off the prongs with an old pair of scissors.  I didn't want them showing on the back of the card.
• All edges were roughed up with the Cutter Kit™ and then sponged with Soft Suede™ ink.

• The vivid colors of the Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper™ determined the ink colors I used to rubber stamp.
• To create the hole on your tag, using the 1/2" Circle Punch, punch a Orchid Opulence™ circle and punch another circle out of Certainly Celery™.  On the Certainly Celery™ cardstock, punch another hole around the 1/2 Circle hole, using the 3/4" Circle Punch™.  Adhere both the Orchid Opulence™ 1/2" circle and the Certainly Celery™ circle ring to the tag.  Use the Crop-A-Dile™ to punch a hole through the Orchid Opulence™ circle.

Spring Happy Birthday Bouquet

Welcome to this months Spring Hop! This is way beyond the "waffle cone"!  This cone is fun paper crafting delight with no calories.  Everything is Pixie Sticks™ and Lollipops™ here and it only takes a quarter sheet of 12" X 12" Tea Party Designer Series Paper™ to create this sweet cone.  What will you put in yours?

Mukibug Tips:

• I put cotton balls in the bottom of the cone to give a soft place for the candy to sit. Crimped and shredded cardstock would also be nice.
• Cut your Designer Series Paper diagonally when cutting it into quarters.
• Definitely use our super strong Sticky Strip™ to hold your cone together at the back seam.
• A Jumbo Pewter Eyelet™ works great on the back seam to reinforce the ribbon loop.

CELEBRATE BUTTON FLOWERS CARD

I am CRAZY about our Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper™ (see below) and you can see why with this simple "celebrate" card.

Mukibug Tips:

• The clear button on the top was created easily by using the 3/4" Circle Punch™ on the Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper™.  I used the Paper Piercing Tool™ to poke the holes in the button.
• The Circle Circus™ rubber stamp set was perfect for the stamped design behind the buttons.
• The only rubber stamp I used in the Embrace Life™ rubber stamp set was the flower stem!
• I was excited to realize the small words from the Celebrate Everything™ rubber stamp set fit perfectly with the Medium Jewelry Tag Punch™.  (I'm in love with those little tags!)
• I used Taken With Teal™ ink to stamp the sentiments, instead of Tempting Turquoise, because it was deeper in color and gave more weight to the overall look.  I knew to use Taken With Teal™ because the Color Coach™ shows me Dynamic Duos™ in our Creative Color Combinations™.
• When I lined the envelope, I covered the adhesive, so use some 2-Way Glue™ to seal your envelope, when it's time.

It's Time To Bloom - Easel Card

Yeah!  Here comes Spring and "It's Time to Bloom!"

I love how people come up with mechanical ideas for cards and 3-D items.  This is an "easel" card and I love the movement.  SPRING is the theme for this weeks Paper Pal Arts Challenge #32 and our Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper™ has Spring printed all over it!

 Oh, it may look like a regular card, coming out of the envelope, but it springs to life, as it's opened up.  This is another "Big Shot" die cutting card.  Both the butterflies and the embossed "Hi" are created using the Big Shot die cutting machine.

The bright colors of the Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper™ is very exciting and appropriately bright and cheerful to welcome Spring.

Mukibug Tips:

• Let the colors in your Designer Series Paper dictate the colors of your project.  I just LOVE how all Stampin' Up! colors match across the board through all of our accessories/products.
• The embosslits dies are the BEST.  They die cut and emboss in one pass through the Big Shot.
• The Polka Dot texture I added to the die cut Beautiful Butterflies was just enough to give them some life.
• I only adhered the right side of the butterfly down.  The left side remains free to hold the card in an easel position.
• The Rhinestone Brad on the butterfly was just to add some bling!  Just because.  :D

LATTICE BUTTERFLIES CARD

Just a little splash of color with these five bright butterflies!  This is another one of those BIG SHOT cards!  It's only 4-1/4" X 4-1/4" but it's loaded with lots of action.  This is the first chance I've had to use my *new* Stampin' Up! Lattice Bigz Die™.  I love it!  Every time I look at it I see something different.  Sometimes it's congruent circles, another time it's four petal flowers, then there are times I see just leaves.  It makes a great background to these five handsomely embossed butterflies.  Our *new* Stampin' Up! Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die™ is fabulous.  So how did I ever PAPER CRAFT before I had my Stampin' Up! BIG SHOT by Sizzix™?

Mukibug Tips:

• I rubber stamped all my little expressions on Whisper White cardstock and then punched them out using the *new* MEDIUM JEWELRY TAG PUNCH™.
• I picked them all up, held them all neatly together and punched through ALL of them just once with my 1/16" CIRCLE PUNCH™ to create the hole for the crochet string (available anywhere knitting & crochet supplies are sold).
• My lattice is up off the card thanks to the skinny left overs on my DIMENSIONALS™ adhesive sheet.  I just snip those narrow pieces on the edges and use them behind the thin lattice.  The lattice is magically floating above the surface of the CLOSE TO COCOA card.

SENDING THOUGHTS & LOVE CARD

Sending thoughts & love in a hand stamped card is the kindest way to express your feelings.  This card expresses gentle concern with the soft tones of MELLOW MOSS™ and CLOSE TO COCOA™ cardstock. With all the Stampin' Up! Exclusive matching colors, any project goes together quickly.  One of my most favorite things about Stampin' Up! is all the coordinating product for any paper crafting project.

Mukibug Tips:

• The jumbo scallop trim on the front of the card was created from punching VERY VANILLA™ circles using the 3/4" CIRCLE PUNCH™.  I ran a strip of SNAIL™ permanent adhesive across the back of the CLOSE TO COCOA™ and then adhered the circles starting at the center and moving out to the edges so the circles/scallops are symmetrical.
• I added the VERY VANILLA™ layered cardstock on the inside of the card to stamp the sentiment on.  It helps it to stand out better and also allows for a brighter surface to write a note.
• Your eyes are not playing tricks on you, the ALWAYS ARTICHOKE™ leaves I rubber stamped the second time, after stamping the tree, were so close to the original Close to Cocoa leaves, that it plays tricks on your eyes. (Maybe a 3rd stamping of leaves is needed here!)

Mini Birdhouse on the Fence Project

Our current OCCASIONS MINI CATALOG is packed with so many fun PAPER CRAFTING products.  I had fun cleverly disguised the Mini Milk Carton into a charming birdhouse on a white picket fence!  Our new Stampin' Up! Mini Milk Carton Bigz L Die™ is a BLAST! This was a Paper Pal Arts Inspiration Challenge #31. Wide open challenge, huh!

My little birdhouse actually lifts off the fence to reveal a hidden treat in the picket fence cup.  With Easter just around the corner, you would obviously put chocolate eggs down inside the picket fence cup!  Or perhaps little jelly beans.  Whatever fits will be a delight to whomever receives this "tweet" little project!

Mukibug Tips:

• Before assembling the nicely die cut milk carton, I rubber stamped all over the outside of the carton with a rubber stamp from the SPRINKLES rubber stamp set.  I also punched a 3/4" CIRCLE in one side for the birdhouse door.
• I also added a small piece of WINDOW SHEET over the punched circle hole.
• The roof was made with a 2-1/2" X 4-1/4" piece of SOFT SUEDE cardstock.  I scored it at 2-1/8" using my PAPER CUTTER with a refill SCORE BLADE.
• The WHISPER WHITE Picket Fence cup is 3-1/2" X 7" (score at 1-1/2" across one of the long sides to create the bottom flaps.)  Also score at these measurements for the sides of the Picket Cup (1-5/8", 3-1/4", 4-7/8", 6-1/2").  This will leave a 1/2" flap for an adhesive closure.
• Punching out all the little birdie extras was so easy using the *NEW* XL 2-Step BIRD PUNCH (don't forget to punch out a little extra wing for the back side of the birdie.)
• Notice all the little items like the cute little MEDIUM JEWELRY TAGS punched with little expressions from the TINY TAGS rubber stamp set.
  
•  ADDITIONAL ASSEMBLY NOTES:
  
  1. Die cut your birdhouse, with CRUSHED CURRY™, following the assembly instructions that came with the STAMPIN' UP! MINI MILK CARTON BIGZ L DIE™(it explains where to put adhesive).
  2. Punch the edges of the SOFT SUEDE roof using the SCALLOP EDGE PUNCH.
  3. On the WHISPER WHITE Picket Fence Cup, cut the four bottom score lines up to the 1-1/2" score line mark.  This creates your flaps for the bottom of the box.
  4. Punch the top edge of the WHISPER WHITE using the PINKING HEARTS BORDER PUNCH.
  5. Use STICKY STRIP on the 1/2" WHISPER WHITE Picket Fence flap and adhere to create a open ended box.
  6. Run the WHISPER WHITE cardstock through the CRIMPER.
  7. Close up your flaps on the bottom of the WHISPER WHITE Picket Fence Cup.
  8. I first punched a hole in the top of the SOFT SUEDE roof; then, I put it on top of the milk carton and marked where the hole needed to be on top of the carton.  Each of these holes was punched using the CROP-A-DILE™.  The POLKA DOT ribbon tie through the holes.  I did add some adhesive under the roof to hold it down against the carton.

HAPPINESS ALWAYS CARD

Here comes Spring!  I can see buds on the branches and blossoms on the trees.  This card is peeking through to shown signs of Spring.  This is totally a Stampin' Up! BIG SHOT™ by Sizzix card and I hope it inspires those of you, on the fence, to get one soon.

Mukibug Tips:

• Create the card by running it through the Big Shot using the Curly Label Bigz Die™ with the Magnetic Mover & Shaper Circle Die™.  Use 6" X 12" Pale Plum™ cardstock.
• Put the front portion of the card in the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Folder™ and again run it through the Big Shot.
• Cut 1/2" off the front side of the card to accommodate for the white eyelet border.
• Using the 1" Circle Punch, punch out a circle to back your large Clear Button.
• Using a Bone Folder, curl your 3/8" X 4-1/4" Mellow Moss™ cardstock until it separates like 2-ply toilet paper.  Adhere one, of the two separated pieces, with the soft center up, so it looks and feels like suede.
• I traced a pencil circle on the inside of the card to know right where to place the Regal Rose™ XL Fancy Flower™.

GIFTED {BIRTHDAY} MOMENTS CARD

 
This FREE Sale-A-Bration rubber stamp set is really cute.  I like to fill-in line art images with Designer Series Paper™ for a whole new look.  It takes some patience to rubber stamp images several times, then carefully cut out the images with PAPER SNIPS™.  There are several layers, to this simple looking card, I would like to share with you.

The card itself is 4-1/2" X 4-1/2".  The first layer is a solid piece of SO SAFFRON™ cardstock cut at 3-1/2" X 3-1/2".  In my TUTORIAL, you will quickly learn that the scalloped layer must be a certain measurement to be punched evenly on four sides.  I started with a 4-1/4" X 4-1/4" Whipser White™ piece of cardstock.

NOTE: I created the scalloped layer first and then determined the size of the So Saffron layer.

The Polka Dot layer was 3-1/16" X 3-1/16".  I stamped the gift packages on it first and then ran it through the Stampin' Up! BIG SHOT by Sizzix™ in a PERFECT POLKA DOT TEXTURED IMPRESSIONS FOLDER™ (it would be too hard to rubber stamp on all those raised polka dots.)

The three gifts has previously been stamped on three different pieces of SWEET PEA STACK DESIGNER SERIES PAPER™ and cut out with paper snips.

DIMENSIONALS™ are under the polka dot layer, the rest is adhered together with SNAIL ADHESIVE™.  Oh, there was one other place I used the Dimensionals; on the inside of the card, I placed a little sentiment tag.

 

Our NEW little JEWELRY TAG PUNCH is just SO CUTE!!  As with any of our punches you can modify the finished size of your punched image, by pulling the paper out of either end of the punch, and just punching one side at a time. (see photo)  I cut a strip of 3/8" wide paper, rubber stamped it, then punched the rounded head.  I paper snipped the other side, but could have put it in the punch for that cut as well.  To make it look like an authentic tag, I punch a 1/16" hole in the center top and tied on a piece of white crochet string.

BIRTHDAY HAPPY MOMENTS CARD

One of my favorite techniques to use with rubber stamping is WATERCOLORING.  The artwork is already done for me and I get to color in the artwork.  Watercolor is the quickest way to color in line art.  The very quickest rubber stamping is our solid image stamping or our 2-Step Stamping™ rubber stamping technique.

When I have the time, because face it, coloring in anything takes time, I enjoy watercoloring.  Stampin' Up! has developed some nice products to allow watercoloring to be faster and mobile.  Our Aqua Painters™ allow you to fill the chamber with water and go!  No need for a sloppy glass of water.  When you gently pressure the chamber of the Aqua Painter, water is released down to the bristles.  You can have a little or a lot of water depending on the look you're going for.  The Aqua Painters™ come in a set of two: small & medium tip.

There are several ways to access color for your watercoloring projects.

Classic™ Ink Pad Lid- While the ink pad is still closed, squeeze down on the lid pressing it against the ink pad.  A little residue will stick to the lid of the ink pad from which you can pull color for your watercoloring.
Classic™ inks are a water based dye.  Craft™ ink is a pigment based ink.  You want to use the Classic™ ink for watercoloring.

Classic™ Re-inker Bottle- For richer color, add a drop of re-inker onto the lid of its coordinating ink pad and watercolor right from the lid as explained above.  Or place a drop of ink on a styrofoam (waterproof) plate and make that your palette to work from.  This is what I do; I place a drop of each of the colors I'll be using and everything is located on one small plate.

Classic Stampin' Write™ Markers- The formula of ink is the same in our markers, as it is in our Classic Ink Pads and Classic Re-inker Bottles.  You can scribble your marker on to a waterproof surface (like a styrofoam plate) and watercolor using that ink. 

NOTE: Because you are working with water, I recommend rubber stamping your image with one of our Basic Neutral Ink Colors (Basic Black™, Basic Gray™, Basic Brown™).  These formulas do not tend to bleed when watercoloring.  For a 100% no-bleed watercoloring experience, I recommend StazOn™ ink.  All these inks are available in my OnLine Shop and I'll have them listed below.

I mentioned before that watercoloring was the quickest way for me to color in line art.  One tip that has worked for me is keeping the brush tip in contact with the watercolor paper and kind of push the color around.  The tip of the Aqua Painter™ is so fine, I can get into the tiniest spots to add color.  Between colors, I RINSE my Aqua Painter™ by squeezing the handle gently while whipping of the excess color on a paper towel.  If I have too much color or water on my brush tip, I'll just dab it on the paper towel and then go to the watercolor paper.

Watercoloring is interesting.  Many people at my craft table have either loved it or struggled with it.  Most of the time, with a little practice, everyone generally comes around to feeling comfortable with this technique.  Always remember- start light (more water) and add color as you go.  You can always make it darker, but you can't always make it lighter.

I couldn't resist add a little BLING to the candles to make them sparkle, and while I was at it, I added sparkle to the flower centers as well.  That bling is DAZZLING DIAMONDS GLITTER™ which I applied with a 2-Way Glue Pen™.  I love to use the bling so much, I keep it in a disposable container, with a scoop (baby formula scoop) and pour the Dazzling Diamonds™ over my gluey parts and let the excess fall back into the container!  Easy, no mess, and the B L I N G is on!

SURPRISE!

Don't forget to use a little bit of Going Gray™, watered down, for a shadow under you object.

Stampin' Up!'s Beautiful Butterfly™ Garland

At The Little Birdie Secret's Blog Party, last week, I noticed some darling blue bird garland hanging from the tables, for decorations.  When I inquired where they found such darling "bird" garland, Mandy said they made it!  It was created by sewing the die cut shapes through a sewing machine and allowing the chain stitch of the sewing machine to continue a little bit, before entering the next piece of die cut cardstock.  Well, of course I had to come home and make some!  With all my fabulous Stampin' Up! punches and die cuts, I got busy right away.

Using the Stampin' Up! Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die™, I die cut butterflies in three different colors and  I punched out some 3/4" circles in Very Vanilla™.  Having everything punched and cut, I headed to the sewing machine to create my garland.  This is so cool!  You have just got to try this yourself.

SWEETEST DAY EVER

YUM!  Wishing you the SWEETEST DAY EVER!  This is one of five projects we will be doing at January STAMP CAMP.  I love the SWEET TREAT CUPS™ on a card.  They are fun to design and and even more fun to receive!  We are also now offering a HEART TREAT CUP™ and STAMP SET PROMOTION, just in time for Valentines day.

The round cups fit perfectly inside the large flower from the PETAL PIZZAZZ™ stamp set (shown below).  Our 1-3/4" CIRCLE PUNCH™ creates the hole, and the self-adhesive lip on the Sweet Treat Cup holds the cup right in place.  Our FULL HEART PUNCH™(113693) punches the perfect heart to accommodate the heart shaped cups.  I used jelly beans in the cup for this card, but here's a list of 100 SWEET CUP IDEAS to fill your Sweet Treat Cups.  This list was created by Janet Wakeland, Sr. Director, Stampin; Up! My Digital Studio™ Class 101

Welcome to the ease and speed of My Digital Studio™ (MDS™).  The revolutionary NEW crafting tool from Stampin' Up!.  I would like to devote each Monday to showing you fabulous tools in this powerful new software.  Today's card, BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS was created by the talented artist at Stampin' Up!.  You have several options when creating a card in MDS.  Let me show you the steps I took to create this card.

OPEN YOUR My Digital Studio™ SOFTWARE PROGRAM

This is the screen that will greet you every time you open My Digital Studio™.
I selected the GREETING CARD option.

You have five different card size options to choose from.  I chose 6X6 SQUARE.

I am then given three choices of how I want to create my card (any option can be modified).
  I chose the DESIGNER option.

I'm given a choice of several PRE-DESIGNED cards (which can all be modified).  As you click on each one, a sample card will be shown in the lower window.  Click through all your choices until you find the card that best meets your needs.

On the PAGE ARRANGEMENT page, I am given the option of designing not only the front of the card but the two inside portions as well.  You can make changes later to this option.  The back of the card is always reserved for a MDS copyright watermark.  For this example I chose just a card front to show on my blog.

On the PHOTO OPTIONS page, I am given the choice of inserting photos individually or automatically inserting photos.  I am not using photos for this card, so I clicked next leaving the "Pick and Click" option selected.

On the NAME PROJECT page, I replace the "My Project 3" text with the name I want to give my new project.  I make sure the new project will be stored in the right file. 
NOTE: The "/Users/AB/Documents/My Digital Studio Projects" was the default file established when I loaded the MDS software on to my computer.

After a few moments, my computer generates the card and it appears on the MDS CANVAS page.  This the the place where you can create, modify and share your design.  The other options available to you are professional printing through SU!, printing at home, printing at your favorite photo processing store, creating a DVD, creating and interactive CD and Multi-Media options.  For this exercise, I didn't change a think.  I just chose to EXPORT to JPEG so I could upload it to this blog and show it to you.
