Isn't it great when wishes come true! Well, my TRUE WISH VALENTINE card is a lovely sentiment for the one you love (this one is for my sweet husband, Bob).
My challenge this week, with Paper Pal Arts, was to only use three Stampin' Up! custom colors, MELON MAMBO™, PRETTY IN PINK™ and BASIC BLACK™. Limiting myself to these three colors reminds me of an important design rule I teach in my HOME WORKSHOPS. For people just beginning to stamp and/or scrapbook, I recommend limiting yourself to a Neutral Color (Basic Black for this example) and two or three other coordinating colors. This will keep your design simple and balanced. As you become more familiar and comfortable with mixing colors together, you may add a fourth or fifth color to your project. To assist you in working with any of our beautiful Stampin' Up! colors, I recommend our COLOR COACH™ (105796). This double sided Color Coach features coordinating and complementary color suggestions for our exclusive colors, plus a convenient chart of neutral and monochromatic color choices.
We also have a color matching list for our current IN-COLOR™ colors. Download the IN-COLOR™ Color Chart here.
The three colors used on this card are bold and dynamic. Of course EVERYTHING goes with Basic Black, but I decided to let it be the focal point on the outside of the card with a little pink peeking out to entice you to the inside of the card. On the inside of the card, the back becomes only a frame for the bright Melon Mambo print. The bright, double-sided, Designer Series Paper™ came from the WELCOME NEIGHBOR DESIGNER SERIES PAPER™ offered FREE in our SALE•A•BRATION PROMOTION.
The FULL HEART PUNCH™ was used to punch out the heart on the front of the card. I gently brought the two ends of the card together (folding cardstock without making a crease) and slid the cardstock halfway into the Full Heart Punch before punching it.
I used several of our products to create these "sweet-hearts" on the inside of the card, under the sentiment. The three smaller hearts were stamped with Melon Mambo™ ink on Whisper White™ cardstock using the NEW Clear Mount™ I {HEART} HEARTS™ stamp set. All three hearts were punch out in one easy step using our HEART TO HEART PUNCH™. The big scalloped, embossed Pretty in Pink™ heart in the center was created using our STAMPIN' UP! BIG SHOT by Sizzix™ and the SU! HEART OF HEARTS Embosslit Die™.
