So Cute I Had To Make A "Puffy Box Pattern" For YOU!

OK, this was a little puffy box featured over at SCS by Brandy Whisman and I just fell in love with this idea.  I followed the step-by-step instructions and created this Puffy Box shown above.  After going through all the steps I realized it was too detailed to ask all my stamping friends to have to make this template every time they wanted to make this box.  As cute as it is . . . I'm not sure I wanted to trace the CD over and over again to create this cutie!

So, I designed several Puffy Box PDF Patterns (see below) for you to print right on to your Designer Series Paper or favorite card stock and create away!  I don't want you to waste any creative juices on this pattern but rather use all your juices for creating fun and exciting puffy boxes!

Let me tell you a little about the box I created above.  Print the pattern on to the back side of card stock and then cut it out.  Cut out along the outside SOLID lines and score on the DASHED lines.  To score your dashed lines, place your card stock on an old magazine and using a stylus, trace over all the dashed lines.  You're now ready to stamp your Puffy Box.  I love how the Stampin' Up! Classic Inks stamp on the glossy white.  The images are so crisp and vibrant.

When it comes to randomly stamping the flower images all over, I begin with the largest image stamping them far enough apart to make room for other images.  I work my way down to the smallest sized image because it will squeeze in between all the larger images.  I used 5 different colors from the Bold Bright family to really make this an exciting bright Puffy Box.

To assemble the puffy box, you can fold it into position and keep it held in shape with a ribbon tied around the outside.  Cris cross the ribbon to cover all four sides (like a gift box) and tie a bow on the top.  Or, used Sticky Strip on the two side flaps to hold them down securely and punch a little "half moon" on the top and bottom flaps of the opening end so people can stick the fingers in and pop open the two enclosure flaps.  I chose this method so I could embellish the top with a big bright Only Orange flower.

For You Dad

June is the month to think of Dad's & Grads.  This rope string left over from Christmas time was a great textured addition to the front of this card.  The knot placed over the tree trunk with the ends frayed looks like the tree roots.  The sentiment from the Full of Life stamp set said if perfectly for my dad.  The indented punch outs on either side of the card were created with the 1/2" Circle Punch.  I just barely punched it on the "hinge" side of the card to allow a pass through for the rope string.  VersaMark ink was used on the tree, background leaves and "For You" over-stamped background.  The word "Dad" was hand written using the fine tip on the Chocolate Chip marker.  I hope this card will help you share your sentiments with your Dad on Father's Day.

Chic Faux Crocodile Look

I just love the look of this faux crocodile on our Pink Pirouette In Color card stock.  Very easy to do and I've learned a few tricks when doing it on die cut pouches.  Here's how it's done.

First, use the Sizzix® Big Shot Die Cutting Machine and the Pillow Box die to die cut the pillow box in the Pink Pirouette card stock.  Folded all the scored lines.

Use the VersaMark ink pad directly to the card stock and covered the outside of the box with ink (HINT: Don't put ink on the 1/2" flap straight edge where you'll be sealing the box with Sticky Strip).

Now take Clear Embossing powder and cover the inked card stock.  Tap off any excess powder and return it to it's container.

Before heating the powder, to set it, take a stylus or bone folder and drag lines through the un-heated powder to create your crocodile pattern.  HINT: I googled images of crocodile leather to see what the pattern looked like.  Tap off any extra powder from dragging your lines.  HINT: This powder should be discarded and not put back into your embossing powder container.

Now you're ready to heat set your embossing powder on your card stock.  I made a heating board to clip my projects to while I'm heating them.  HINT: I took a piece of cardboard and covered it with aluminum foil and put a wooden clothes line clip on it.  Once your done doing that your pouch is ready to be assembled.  HINT: I folded the score lines before embossing because the overall embossing process makes the card stock quite dry and brittle.  Trying to fold the score lines AFTER embossing caused some of the seams to crack and tear.

Add a dangling tag in silver to resemble a cute Tiffany's charm hanging off the gift box.  Stamp the image with VersaMark on Silver Card stock and then heat embossed using Silver Embossing Powder.  After the embossing is finished punched out the tag with the 1 1/4" Circle Punch and used a 1/16" hole punch for the silver string.
